There are a couple of big phenomenon’s that has hit the internet in the past couple of years. One thing has been the rise of social media. This is represented through the popularity of sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The other big thing that has hit the internet in the last couple of years is the rise of blogging. Since there is a lot of software out there right now that makes it easy for the average person to run a blog, there have been many people who have been getting involved with it. Now with Windows, you can have all of the tools that you need to create a great blog to invite the public to. These tools will give your blog a fresh look.

The first tool that we are going to speak about is something that is unique to the Windows operating system but seems to get a lot of great reviews from all quarters of the blogosphere. The tool is called Windows Live Writer. It allows you to create a post to your blog from your computer. You never have to log into your blogging software that is hosted on the web to make a post. All you have to do is to open up Windows Live Writer, type in what you would like to say, and then hit send. After that, your message will be ready to be seen by all of the people that visit your web site. Posting is not the only thing that it does either. It will allow you to set each post with the proper tags and category. It will even show you the background of your blog in the application so that you get the right feel of how the content is going to look. Windows Live Writer is a must for any blogging professional.

Another tool that can be used in Windows 7 to make your blog look great is Windows Live Movie Maker. This application will allow you to easily edit videos to give them a professional look before you post them to your blog. If you are person that likes to put all kinds of personal aspects of your life online, then there is no better way to present it to the people than by making a nicely edited video. Not only will it make your blog look better but your visitors will respect the professionalism that went into it.

Another application that you can use in Windows 7 to help make your blog look better is Photoshop. Photoshop allows you to create interesting, original pictures to post on your blog. This means that you can differentiate your pictures from all of the other blogs out there by adding something different to the mix. The base of the picture may be the same, but yours are able to stand out. With Photoshop, you are able to make your blog look professional and make it seem like the person who runs it truly cares.

These are the three best applications for blogging in Windows 7. These programs combined with your Windows 7 operating system make for a great experience

There has been a great rush of people who want to share all aspects of their life online. Whether it be a blog that discusses their life or their interest or a Facebook/Twitter account that they can update on a regular basis, getting your message across is becoming important to a lot of people. People may have less of a chance to become international stars these days, but they are able to become an internet celebrity in a certain niche very easily. One medium that helps you get your message across better than others, is the use of video. Video will allow you to bring points across that are hard to do in text. Plus, you can show certain aspects of your life that might take a book sized blog post to properly convey the message. When we do release a video on our blog, we would like it to look as professional as possible. This means that we have to use some sort of editing software to be able to do this. Luckily for us, Windows 7 has video editing software that works perfectly with it.

The one thing about Windows 7 and Windows Live Movie Maker is that it does not come pre-installed with the operating system like it used to. You must download the program separately from the Microsoft web site if you would like to use it. There are other programs that will help you with your blog such as Windows Live Writer that you can download from the same space but that is a story for another article. Right now we are discussing using Windows Live Movie Maker for your blog. So after you have finished downloading you can start to use the program to edit your home videos.

The program comes with a lot of features to give your movies the right touch. It has a track line so that you can strategically place music in your movie. If the movie has no sound, then adding some sort of background music is a great way to liven it up. You can also place a beginning title and closing credits in the movie as well. These credits will allow you to give any additional information to the viewer that you would like them to see. You can also place text within the movie. This will also give your viewer additional information such as a web site to visit or a note about what they are seeing. Lastly, you can place transitions in the movie so that when it switches scenes there is a little effect that the viewer will see. This serves to make the movie a little more exciting than it would normally be.

As you can see, there is a lot that you can do with Windows Live Movie Maker to make your videos more exciting. If you are person who is thinking about taking their blog to the next stage, then adding video would be a great addition.

Some things you have to learn after they happen to you. No matter how many times you hear someone tell you not to do something; it doesn’t really sink in until you have been affected by it. After that, then you will get the message. This is the case when it comes to computer users and the message of backing up their data. They know that they should, but they never do it until it is too late. It takes a really bad virus or a hard drive crash before they get the message that they should have backed up their data on the computer. In this article we will go over several ways that you can accomplish this safely in Windows 7. You want to make sure the integrity of the data is secured when you a do a back up. Some of the methods of backing up your data will do this for you. So now let’s get into how we can get this done.

The first solution that we will look at is a local backup for your data. This solution is great for backing up your data in case something happens to your computer. But it is not the optimal solution in case anything happened to the location that the data was being stored in. The physical devices are in the same location, and if anything happens to that location then all of the data is destroyed, both back up and the original. To start the backups, the first thing that you can use is a back up hard drive. You can use either another internal hard drive or an external hard drive. Either one will have the desired results. You can also set up software that will allow you to back up the data on your hard drive automatically. This way, in case you forget, you will not have to worry about it. Also another solution that you can use as far as backing up your data is a blank DVD or CD. This may be a longer process but this will allow your back ups to be easily portable.

If you are worried about all of your data being in one place, then you might want to look at another software solution. There are several companies out there now that will take your data and store it on their remote computers around the world. The data will be routinely backed up on different servers so you can guarantee that if the hard drive that it is on goes bad, there will be a back up of the data somewhere. There is also some remote back up data software that will create versions of the data that you upload. So if one of the pieces of data that you sent had the wrong information on it, you can find the piece that you sent before with the right information and restore it. One of the software leaders in this field is a company known as dropbox.

Backing up the data on your computer is very important. And on Windows 7, it is even easier than ever. So make sure you back up your data before it comes back to haunt you.

Windows 7 is a significant improvement over Windows Vista, and overall, a very convenient operating system, but it is by no means complete. These ten downloads will improve Windows 7’s functions, looks and make it safer and easier to upgrade to.

Reviving the old Start menu

Windows 7’s has a powerful Start menu, offering file and program launching as you type and it allows smart pinning of anything you frequently access. But if you are really attached to the Windows XP/2000-style Start menu, though, you can use StartKiller (http://www.tordex.com/startkiller/) to restore the “classic” XP look in Windows 7.

Customizing logon background

You can customize many things in Windows 7, but the password/login screen remains fairly unchangeable and opaque. With Logon Changer (http://tweaks.com/software/tweakslogon/) you can use a JPG file to change the logon background.

Creating recovery discs for pre-installed Windows 7

If you use Windows 7 that comes with a new computer, you may have discovered that getting a full Windows 7 installation disc, or even the system recovery disc, is an “option” that cost you some extra cash. If you would like to make sure you can save your computer from inevitable system and boot-up errors in the future, you may need to download NeoSmart (http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/) to create System Recovery Discs that can restore System Restore points, repair damaged files, and even pull in complete backups for restoration.

Better integration with Gmail

If Gmail is your email service, Gmail Notifier Plus (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/1243868925/1) will subtly inform you of any new mails using its taskbar icon and provide a preview of your new messages when you move the cursor over its icon. There are also shortcuts for composing new messages, popping open your inbox in the browser, or heading to any of your emails individually.

Firefox with Jump Lists

Firefox won’t have support for jump lists until version 3.7. However, those who want to have more access on tabs and most commonly visited websites can try Winfox (http://www.compugeeksoftware.com/software/winfox.aspx), a helpful tiny add-on that you can pin to your taskbar for accessing Firefox. Before installing, copy Winfox to the Firefox program directory then pin the “Winfox” program to your taskbar.

Adding better TV streaming to Media Center

Media Center in Windows 7 is impressive; however some people may note the inadequate access to streaming TV. Since Media Center currently only have CBS streaming, with Hulu (http://www.hulu.com) you can get more streaming shows for example NBC, ABC, and Fox.

Adding stacks to the desktop

Many people are talking about Windows 7’s taskbar and some even say it’s more effective than Mac OS X’s Dock, except it’s missing the really neat “Stacks” feature. However, with StandaloneStack (http://www.chrisnsoft.com/standalonestack/) you can get blown-up menus of apps and folders from single icons on the taskbar.

Tweaking hard-to-find settings

It’s always nice to tweak with the new Control Panel, however Microsoft only lets us play with so many sliders and check boxes. With Ultimate Windows Tweaker and XdN Tweaker you can dig deep into the guts of Windows 7. You can control Aero 3D effects, modify Windows 7’s window-snapping behaviors and others.

Making Alt+Tab shortcut more intuitive

The common Alt+Tab shortcut get a tiny visual overhaul in Windows 7, however it still only gives you basic capabilities in window switching. VistaSwitcher (http://www.ntwind.com/software/vistaswitcher.html) is a powerful app which supports keyboard shortcuts that allow you tile or minimize windows from the Alt+Tab screen, close down files or programs windows in bulk, and, with the Ctrl+Alt+Tab combo you switch only between the open windows of a particular program. Despite its name, VistaSwitcher works really well on Windows 7.

Installing necessary programs simultaneously

The first time you install a newly-released OS, it usually feels like an exciting adventure. And to make things easier, you can skip the part where you laboriously download Firefox, uTorrent, anti-virus application, WinAmp, Picasa, and other must-have software from the net. Ninite (http://ninite.com/) is a good way to avoid redundant installations. In the Ninite’s web site, you can check the software you need from a wide range of freeware and download a customized installer. The installer will download and install everything you need in the background.

Windows 7 is a significant improvement over Vista. Some even think that Windows 7 is what Windows Vista should have been from the moment it was introduced. It has a useful task bar and provides a host of new security innovations that have helped minimize exploits, while Windows XP Mode helps in addressing likely compatibility issues.
However, it doesn’t mean that Windows 7 is not without faults. When Microsoft introduced Windows 7, it promised better and improved features. It certainly delivered them in most areas. But, unfortunately fell flat in others. Presently, Windows 7 lacks a few elements that might otherwise make it a nearly perfect operating system. Some are major issues and others are insignificant. But if Microsoft is diligent in addressing them in future Service Packs, Windows 7 might be a far better OS than it already is.

Online Integration

You will find very little online integration when using Windows 7. As Windows customers become more well-informed and use the Internet frequently, having easy, quick and seamless access to Internet services is essential. The sooner Microsoft solves that omission, the better.

Security Effectiveness

Although Microsoft has a number of new security enhancements in Windows 7 that have improved its effectiveness in combating malware, it is still has a long way to become a highly secure OS. Popularity can be a bad thing; it is certain that the moment you read this article, hundreds of smart and evil minds around the world are working hard to find security flaws in Windows 7. Microsoft must come up with innovative ideas that can address future security threats.

Search Needs Some Improvements

Searching for your files has been improved somewhat. However many Windows 7 users are still having trouble locating the files and folders they are looking for. Microsoft should address Windows 7 search features, whether by integrating a portion of Bing technology into the Windows 7’s search field or using other methods to improve search.

Starter Edition

It is useless and needs to go. It lacks many of the features average users want in an OS. In some ways, it is even inferior compared to Windows XP, why would people even bother to spend a dollar to get an inferior and incomplete OS. If Microsoft wants the whole Windows 7 package to be successful, the Starter Edition must be discarded.

Upgrade from Windows XP

When Microsoft stated that Windows XP users could not upgrade to Windows 7 directly, it was Microsoft’s mistake. Although many users will likely get Windows 7 when they buy new PCs pre-installed with the OS, those who want to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 surely will have a rough time dong it. That’s unfortunate since many Microsoft customers still use Windows XP.

Upgrade From Vista

A growing number of users are experiencing issues upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Nearly a third of Vista users have experienced a problem or two when upgrading to Windows 7. Granted, that’s an insignificant percentage of all Windows customers, but it’s a significant number in worldwide market.

Enterprise Concerns

Even most companies know that Windows 7 is better to Vista, there is still a good deal of doubts over whether it is the right time to upgrade their corporate networks. Windows 7 has yet to prove that there are no major issues for corporate uses. If Microsoft wants Windows 7 to be successful for business uses, corporate world must see values in it.

Native Apps

When we first boot up Windows 7, we’ll find that a few native applications like Windows Media Center and Windows Mail must be downloaded. Once we do so, we will unfortunately find barely updated versions of the same applications that were running on Windows Vista. Mac OS X users could be especially disappointed, since they are accustomed to Apple’s better implementation.

Bloatware
For years, Microsoft has been criticized for not properly removing bloatware from its OSs. Unfortunately, in Windows 7 you will find outdated code and some native applications that are mostly useless, which in the end contribute to its bigger-than-necessary footprint. Obviously, unneeded apps can cause the operating system to become sluggish after an extended use and allows malicious codes to use more points for data exploitation. It’s about time for Microsoft to cut the fat.

Steeper Learning Curve for XP Users

Since so many Microsoft customers opted against Windows Vista and stuck with the oldie-but-goodie Windows XP, those who choose to upgrade to Windows 7 will need to deal with steeper learning curve. That is not necessarily Microsoft’s mistake, but it has to be addressed. Microsoft’s tutorials aren’t too helpful to those who never use Vista. The company should find a way to allow easier jump to Windows 7.

You should back up your files periodically and keep large backups off-site (it’s a computer lingo for “a place that’s far from your computer, so that floods and fire doesn’t take both your backups and your computer all at once”).

Windows 7 backups fall into these categories:

Data backups; are partial copies of your files. File and Folder Backup Wizard is used to make copies of selected files and folders.

Shadow copies, in Windows 7, it makes copies of your data files automatically.

System restore points, it makes copies of computer’s important settings, drivers, and certain vital system files. Windows 7 always creates a system restore point each day or before installing new software.

Image backups (system images) are snapshots of your drives.

If you install Windows Home Server PC in your network, you don’t need to worry about backups. It takes care of everything – image backups, shadow copies, and the whole nine yards – overall it’s superior to Windows 7 in backup capabilities.

If you have high-speed Internet access and don’t mind uploading/downloading hundreds of gigabytes of data, consider backing up your files to the Internet. A few companies are entering the online backup business, including, notably, Google with its online storage service, GDrive.

Benefits to storing data online include being able to download your files from anyplace as long as you can go online. All your backups are located offsite, by definition, so only a global cataclysm can destroy your backups and your computer simultaneously.

Drawbacks of online backup; obviously include the availability of a fast and stable Internet connection. It should also provide super-tight security (both technically and legally) and redundant storage location, to ensure the safety of your files.

There are several different levels of computer users. When a person first starts to become a heavy computer user, they have to overcome different obstacles so that they are more comfortable with the machine. The more comfortable you are with the computer, the faster you are able to get work done. You are also able to squeeze more out of the machine than the average user, since you have a broader knowledge of it’s abilities. All of the shortcuts become part of your daily routine. Most people who make a living using their computer, would like to become power users. There are steps that a person must take to be able to reach that status. Here are a couple of software tools that Windows 7 provides, which will help get you on your way.

Several years ago, Microsoft introduced a tool that it’s Linux and Unix competition has seen as a necessity for a long time. This tool was named Powershell and it is a command line shell that has been optimized for efficiency. Microsoft had the old Dos command line but that shell was very weak compared to the competition. We are in the age of GUI’s and pretty moving graphics on the screen but sometimes typing in text commands can be a lot faster. Powershell has brought a lot of the features from the Bash shell, that runs on Linux, to windows. This includes alias, the ability to pipe a program’s output into another program, scripting with cmdlets, and a help system that is similar to man pages in Linux. The Powershell also brings it’s own extra set of features such as a heavy integration with the .Net library, ability to access COM, and other features that integrate well into Windows. You do not have to be a tech head to be able to see the advantages that Powershell can bring. A lot of your daily computing task can be automated with Powershell.

Another tool that can help you become a Windows power user, is the Windows Search feature. When you click on the start button, at the bottom, you will see a search bar. Most people ignore this feature and only use it if they are looking for a file. In the past version of Windows, that may have been all that it was good for. Now in Windows 7, the search feature has been tremendously upgraded. It is designed so that it can be used as a replacement for the normal start button features all together. Instead of searching through the start menu for a program that you want to use, type the first two letters of the programs name and it will pop up. Also you can access Control Panel features in the same manner. Accessing program and files in this manner will help your computer flow become 2x more efficient.

Also, last but not least, the final feature that will help you become a power user , is learning the abilities of jump list. Jump list are features that are accessed by right clicking on an icon in the task bar. When you right click on an item, it will show you the most commonly used features in a pop up panel. This can allow you to control the program, even if it is not in full display. This feature makes tedious task go by so much quicker, since you are not constantly minimizing and maximizing programs all day.

These are a couple of tools that will help you become a Windows 7 power user. If you learn these features, then your productivity will definitely see an upswing.

Through the years, one thing that Mac advocates would hold over the heads of Windows users, was the elegant look of their operating system. They really enjoyed bragging about the pretty features and the UI slickness that the Apple designers thought to bring to the computer. A pleasant looking UI allows the user to feel as if they are using something above and beyond the standard machine. For the most part, Windows users could not argue. The OS X operating system was well designed and had a very unique look to it. In this iteration of Windows however, Microsoft has taken this criticism seriously. They have tried to upgrade the design and flow of the Windows 7 operating system. They know that users want a good experience overall, and the looks of the machine play into this heavily. But Microsoft also has some help when it comes to making the OS look good. There are a couple of third party software vendors that have created good looking themes and gadgets for Windows 7. If you really want a unique and good looking operating system, you will use some of these techniques to your advantage.

There are several ways that you can change the look of your operating system but the most popular way seems to be with themes. Theme are available in many different places, some being premium, custom themes and others you can get for free. The different amount of themes that you can get are vast and they all depend on what kind of mood you are in when you pick one. Some people prefer to just have a simple theme of a mountain range or the ocean, while others like to have either a movie or a sports team that they like. Themes can be easily placed on your computer through the Control Panel settings. If you would like to, you can also make your own theme as well. This is not as hard as it may seem and there are plenty of tutorials that will show you how.

You can also customize the look of your Windows 7 computer by having unique gadgets. Gadgets are little mini programs that run on your desktop. They can do a lot of little things while making your desktop look interesting. These range from giving you the latest news, to telling you what the updated score is if your favorite team is playing. There are hundreds of gadgets that you can use to customize your settings. Gadgets are also easy to make. If you are willing to take the time and learn a little bit of html, and javascript, you will be able to make your own. Gadgets can really make the customizing of an Windows 7 os, look official.

So through the use of themes and gadgets, you can really make the Windows 7 experience a customized one. There is no need to be jealous of Mac users anymore. With the already upgraded look and feel of the new Windows 7, themes and gadgets can make the looks go one step further.

Windows 7 has being the latest version launched by Microsoft keeping in mind user attraction list and the requirements. As compared to windows vista, it is much faster in performance and also has couple of additional customized features. Microsoft had launched windows 7 considering the ground level and standard specifications. Windows 7 is known to perform with good results for most of the user. However, at times, it does result in crash and system failure. This article would provide you tip where in you can prevent your windows 7 system from crashing.

1. Windows 7 System specifications – The first requirement is going for a relatively modem configuration system which you could select to install windows 7. Windows 7 does consume less system resources as compared to windows 7. However, overall size for installation is a load on the computer. For any system chosen to install windows 7, here are list of standard minimum specifications to follow and then proceed on the installation.

Processor of 1GHz

Ram of 1GB

Hard Disk free space of around 16GH

DirectX support for graphics and memory 128 MB

2. The next check point if for the drivers required for the windows 7 installation. You need to ensure you have the right drivers compatible to the windows 7 version before you proceed on the installation. The drivers need to be updated and the recent matching the system configuration and requirements for windows7. Many

Times, it’s seen that a wrong or corrupt driver can lead to windows 7 crash and thereby create problems during the installation.

3. The other point to remember is that incasing you had a crash for the system; you should boot your system in safe mode. This is for the reason safe mode always remembers the last action or task performed by you and in this way you can remember the last specific task you did and that resulted in crash. It could be an update, patch, settings change etc. In this way you can undo the changes by booting your system in safe mode post crash.

4. You need to have sufficient hard disk space to install windows 7 and the related programs. In-case you are running short of space; you could copy all your video and music files to another external hard drive. Also, you could free up space by removing all the unwanted software’s and programs from your existing system.

5. Once you have completed all the above mentioned checks, you can make the most important check i.e registry check. You could use the registry cleaner which will detect in-case you have any issues related to registry and fix them on the spot. This is a crucial step which you should do in order to complete the installation successfully.

Currently found installed on numerous computer systems is the Windows 7 OS. It has surpassed sales of other operating systems in the past… However, an issue remains with the ‘registry’. The registry has been causing lots of issues. The section of Windows that stores your personalized settings and information is the register, currently a serious concern for users.

Although corruption in your register is not anything we are not familiar with, having been an issue with Windows since Windows98. Hence, the reason for registry cleaners, doing a scan throughout the entire registry and then mending these corrupted files. Windows 7 however has the registry overworked, piling tons of data within the registry. Making prior versions of registry cleaners mixed up and they tend to wipeout newly added registry files you have contained in the registry.

In order to get past these issues you will need to utilize a registry cleaner that allows the PC to handle the current registry files that Windows 7 would contain.

Windows 7 has millions of folks using it that would be a good way to show its advanced new features and reliability…. it still must rely on the Windows registry however. Making the registry a necessary component of Windows by storing information and settings, and also your computer options. Which makes the registry the backbone of the Windows 7 and very necessary for efficient Windows running.

The registry is however so hardworking, making it the computer’s main cause of concern. Since your registry maintains and stores so much information like login details and your currently visited website, it is almost being used continuously. 100’s of registry files are actually being opened and read when using Windows 7. Your system will tend to save some of these files in the incorrect way since there are so many of them being used, opened, and filed all at the same time, thus causing a confusing problem with the computer.

You can anticipate your computer to operate at a slower rate and have more issues due to the fact that the registry files are incorrectly stored. Trying to maintain, read and file these numerous files ends up confusing the system having files stored wrong and corrupted, unreadable even. This now slows down the computer since it has to work harder in order to process the files when needed. Registry tools are needed to help maintain, fix and scan the registry and repairing or replacing the problem causing files.

Being that Windows 7 is brand new a problem arises, the registry tools are having issues determining what are registry problems on your PC and then deleting more files than problems causing them. Your computer may have serious issues, if the registry is deleting needed files. In order to stop this from occurring, it is required to have a good registry cleaner tool for your Windows 7 OS.
