Upgrade From Windows Vista to Windows 7
Written by Admin on December 22, 2009Windows 7 is the latest offering from Microsoft Corporation, the makers of the world’s most popular and widely used processing systems, the Windows series. This brand new version of Windows is already gaining in popularity thanks to its amazing new features, improved touch recognition, improved handwriting recognition, improved speech recognition, incorporation of new gadgets, use of loop trackers and efficiency testing tools in its design and some great new display features. There is, of course a lot more offered beyond what has already been mentioned, but it would not do full justice to this amazing new system to just read about it second hand. Windows 7 has to be tried first hand to be believed. If you have not already upgraded, it is about time that you did.
Fortunately, the manufacturers have this time paid attention to the difficulties which were faced by the customers in upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista because the programs, applications and hardware that were compatible with Windows XP were not compatible with Windows Vista. However, this time around, the applications, hardware and software which were compatible with Windows Vista will be compatible with Windows 7, therefore the users will not have to face the same problems while upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
Things will be easier for you if you had purchased a qualifying PC or if you had bought a boxed copy of Windows Vista. If you bought a qualifying PC, it means you bought a PC from a manufacturer that had participated in the Windows 7 Upgrade option Program. In such a case you can get redemption details and will need to just fill out and submit a form which came in the packaging. Some of the manufacturers are Acer, Dell, HP, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba. There are more, so you should find out from your local store.
If you bought a boxed copy of Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate, you can order your copy of Windows 7 directly from Microsoft. This is also available on the official Microsoft website.
After you obtain your copy of the Windows 7 on a DVD, insert it into your computer and click on the ‘Install Now’ option on your screen. In case you do not have Auto Run enabled, you will have to open the root of the DVD drive and run setup.exe file.
Now, you have the option of either checking the compatibility or to install now. If you want to check the compatibility online, choose that option. Else, move to the next step.
You will get the option of obtaining the latest updates or moving on. Again, it is up to you.
Accept the license agreement terms and choose to Upgrade.
Now Windows will guide you through a Windows installation procedure. From here on, it is all smooth sailing. Just go along with the guidelines and instructions, which are pretty simple and easy to follow and before you know it, you are the proud owner of the brand new Windows 7!
