Upgrade from windows XP to Windows 7
Written by Admin on December 22, 2009Thousands of people all over the world have already got their Windows upgraded to the new Windows 7, thanks to its amazing new features which include improved touch recognition, improved handwriting recognition, improved speech recognition, incorporation of new gadgets, use of loop trackers and efficiency testing tools in its design and some great new display features. There are a lot more features and surprises waiting for you. You have to experience it to believe it. We recommend that you get this upgrade as soon as possible.
For XP users: Actually, many people find that Windows XP suited their needs much better than the confusing and slow Windows Vista. However, now that Windows 7 is out there and available, there is simply no good excuse to stick to the old stuff. Here is how you can upgrade from your Windows XP to the brand new, increasingly popular Windows 7.
Since the computer has to restart in order to install a new system, it is a good idea to print out a copy of the instructions before you go about the actual process of upgradation.
There are a couple of things that you will need. These are an external hard disk and some original disks containing the programs, applications and setup files that you want to use with your new Windows 7 system.
Unfortunately, there is no method known to directly upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. A new formatting is compulsory, that is, wiping a clean slate out of your computer. A good option is the dual boot mode or else you can use the separate disk previously mentioned. Of course, you can do it the traditional way by first upgrading your Windows XP to Windows Vista and then go on upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7. This is obviously a lengthy process, so you can do what we tell you instead.
Please note: the download and upgrade is easy enough if you have auto run enabled in your PC. If, however, Auto Run is disabled or if you have trouble with the automatic installation process of the CD, the following steps will guide you through adequately.
First, download Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit, depending upon your PC system configuration. Burn the RC on a CD or mount it using the ISO mounting tool.
Open the Windows easy transfer window: Use Windows Explorer to browse to the DVD drive on your computer and click on ‘migsetup.exe’ in the Support \ Migwiz directory.
Click ‘Next’ and select ‘an external hard disk or USB’.
Click : ‘this is my old computer’.
Windows Easy Transfer will now scan the computer.
After scanning you can customize your profile, add items and remove or share files and folders as per your liking and preference.
Click on ‘next’, enter password.
Click on ‘Save’
Locate the network locations.
Double click on ‘setup.exe’ in the root folder of the DVD in Windows explorer.
Windows 7 can now be started.
