Microsoft Operating System – Windows 7 – Is It Safe?
Written by Admin on January 10, 2010Windows 7 when released by Microsoft was announced and perceived as the most secured launch with no security threats and concerns.
It took Microsoft couple of years to enhance for windows XP system. It’s because of the Conficker worn which had a wide spread throughout the country and had affected over 7 million machines on windows platform. There had been a security risk as for every window crush that happens most of the hackers had found new software and patches which would run on top of the operation system over quick time, java and flash player.
It’s because of all security threats and concerns, the chief technology division officer had spent lot of sites which would target searching for new software bugs which might get introduced with windows 7 launch. Hence, it’s said that windows 7 is the most secure system which Microsoft has launched based on the time spent on the research done over security risks and threats.
In one of the recent interviews, Microsoft revealed and focused on the statement that Microsoft has made great achievement and progress with regard to the security around the new operating system windows 7.
Windows for sure is a safer version although cyber criminals do follow their approaches to attack hundreds and millions of PC users with one single attack. Hence, the worst attacks target windows running on personal computers. The major question which arises is if the operating system running on the personal computers itself is secure?
These attackers follow multiple approaches and use best techniques to attach personal computers. One of the ways is sending customized e-mail notes and messages with attachments which once opened would ruin the system.
It’s stated by the research director of SANS institute, the major problem with the attaches is that there is high investment and money which can actually trump security and if compared the worth, even government and large industrial groups and teams have to spend the same amount of money to trump the defenses they would have.
There are number of investigations done for the security threats and recently one of the reports published by analysts had the finding on how actually these attacks occur. The report said that the attackers choose their targets very carefully, they send encoded mails and attachments which have bugs, they package in products like Adobe Reader which is not under Microsoft’s control and hence as the user opens the .PDF file, attackers gain command and control over the network.
Many of the Microsoft customers think that there would be higher acceptance of windows 7 by enterprise customers as compared to Vista. Client security is the most important factor which drives the usage of operating systems. Microsoft windows 7 would not significantly increase the attacks on client side computers but ensure that most of the security threats and concerns are addressed.
Microsoft believes that it’s a long way wherein you could move towards solving all types of problems and follow multiple approaches for connecting to each other. The idea “end through end trust” is to develop connections between computers and security plays a key role in order to sustain the operating system.
